These are frequently asked questions I've gotten over the internet and in real life. As each has been asked multiple times, they are paraphrases by yours truly.

Are you from Cape Breton?
No. I was actually born in California, and currently live in Massachusetts. However, a large portion of my family is Canadian, and I have spent time in Nova Scotia researching fisheries.

Do you play the violin?
Yes. I started when I was six (a late bloomer by my family's standards!). I also sing sea chanties.

What is your real job?
I am currently a student and biology research assistant. Hopefully, I will soon go on to a PhD in fisheries management.

Is your hair (or other body part) real?
Yes. I have no idea why people ask this question (the oddest version was about my eye color), but I am completely natural, except for my various ear piercings.

How do you come up with story ideas?
The ideas find me. Usually I start with a concept and play around with in my mind until I have something resembling a plot.

Are you working on any other writing projects?
Yes-- another novel (still in the planning stages), and short stories (I enjoy flash fiction and micro-fiction). And my thesis.
